Drug Testing - A Quick Read

September 20, 2009 · Filed Under Health Related Article · Comment

Drug testing has become a popular form of quality control in companies, organizations and governments across the world. Due to the issues relating to drug use in employees, drug testing has become a way to identify those who need rehabilitated as well as filter out those who are not deemed suitable for certain positions, such as law enforcement.

There are several methods of drug testing. The methods utilized by companies is usually dependent on how sensitive the position you are in or applying for is. Low level or entry positions will tend to make use of urine tests only. These tests only confirm if there has been any drug usage during the time the drug remains in your system. The levels of drugs in urine can be missed if it is bordering the lifespan of the drugs they are testing for. Urine tests can be checked immediately through use of test cards.

Drug testing utilizing blood samples are usually used by law enforcement agencies, as these tests are extremely sensitive, and can show drug usage that urine samples cannot. Drugs will show until the last remnants are eliminated, which makes this a good choice for random drug tests. Blood tests are more expensive than urine tests, and require lab time to complete.

Saliva tests are almost exclusively used by insurance agencies, as they can be done whenever those being tested and a representative of the insurance company meet. Saliva tests, like blood tests, are more expensive and require lab time to complete.

The last type of drug testing used is the hair test. Hair tests are almost impossible to avoid, tricky to fool, and are used for the most sensitive of placements. The hair samples can be taken from any section of the body, so removing your head to bypass having to take the test will not help. These tests are also so touchy that the data gathered can be formed into a six month time line of any drugs that you may have used. This is due to the fact that the narcotics form into the hairs onto your body and are embedded into the hair cells as they are created.

As methods for drug testing has improved, the requirements for sensitive job positions has as well. If you have taken recreational drugs in the past, it is suggested that you are clean of any narcotics for at least six months before applying for any classified work or government employment.

Find Out What Causes Pimples

September 20, 2009 · Filed Under Health Related Article · Comment

Pimples can be absolutely miserable to experience.  Sometimes all it takes is one to make you feel self-conscious and unhappy; most often, you will end up with several pimples at a time, making things even more difficult and unpleasant.Nothing matters as much as discovering a genuine, workable way of removing them and getting your smooth, clear skin back.

Before you can get rid of pimples, though, you need to clearly understand what causes pimples in the first place.

The question is, what causes pimples?

To begin with, it is important to know about the day to day workings of your skin.Millions of very difficult to see pores cover the surface of your skin. The small hairs you have on your skin surface grow up through some of these pores.Your skin’s natural oils are produced by tiny glands found deep inside these pores.  These glands are called sebaceous glands, and the oil they produce is known as sebum.

One function of sebum is to act as your skins natural moisturizer.Another function of sebum is to carry impurities like dirt and dead skin cells up to the surface of the skin, allowing them to be removed, thus keeping the actual pore clean.  This is your body’s natural way of getting rid of bad things and keeping your skin moist, supple, and healthy.

When puberty hits, though, your body starts producing lots of different chemicals including hormones. It will take time for your hormone levels to balance, until then they can fluctuate quite dramatically.Your skin doesn’t like these huge fluctuations and the general response is an out-break of acne and/or pimples.

The extra hormones and fluctuations in your body cause the sebaceous glands to start producing lots and lots of sebum, much more than is normal.Hormonal changes effect all parts of the body, but from your skin’s point of view, it can make it more difficult to shed and get rid of dead skin cells.Bacteria love the environment of a clogged pore. All that extra sebum with an endless supply of dead skin cells means that infection and inflamation will very soon follow. These factors combined produce a pimple.

Help for your acne pimples

Whilst your bodies natural hormonal changes will happen anyway, the amount of pimples you get, to a large extent, are down to decisions you make

1.    Keep your skin clean – It helps to keep your skin clean by using a mild cleanser each morning and evening.  Choose one that is made for the face, and never scrub your skin harshly; the irritation this causes can also cause more pimples to form.
2.    Use medication – Anti-acne medications can help reduce the amount of sebum produced and also help your skin do a better job of getting rid of dead skin cells. Two very good over the counter medications are benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid.
3.Keep your skin moist - If your skin dries out, more pimples are very likely. Using a very light moisturizer on your face can pay dividends.Optimum results are obtained by choosing a moisturizer that is oil-free.

Once you understand what causes pimples it is much easier to understand the best way to treat and prevent them in the first place.  Now that you have found the right information to help you, it won’t be long until your skin starts looking clean, clear, and pimple free!

What’s Your Best Fashion Hairstyle?

August 15, 2009 · Filed Under Health Related Article · Comment

You might’ve heard the saying that you should choose your haircut style based on the shape of your face. There’s more to consider than that, though. For example, consider your hairline, your neckline, any necklaces, earrings or makeup you favor, and so on. And of course, your hairstyle itself is one adornement for your face, and will affect how it looks.

One of the ways to begin to determine how your hairstyle should look is to figure out where the tops of your eyes are in relation to your hairline. Measure the distance from your hairline to your chin (in other words, your face measured lengthwise), and divide that distance in half. If your eyes fall above the centerline, you’ll need to add that much distance to the top of your hairstyle to balance things out. So for example, if your eyes are a half an inch above that centerline, add a half an inch to your hairstyle.

You can also try different hair styles and color based upon how they look with your face by wetting your hair and then “shampooing” it into a lather. The egg whites will make your hair stiff and manipulatable, but they won’t dry your hair out. You can try different looks this way.

First, just comb your hair back from her face without parting it and see what happens. Does your face look too long? Then, gradually comb the hairs right above your hairline forward so that they bulge out over your forehead, keeping the hair on the top and sides close. Then, pull it out so that you get some width.

Now, try parting your hair in the center and drawing it straight down on both sides, then comb the top front backwards as you go. As you manipulate your hair, see what looks best on you, keeping track of the effects you like best. Keep the top sides flat, make them wide, and so on. Play!

Finally, part your hair on the side and try the angles differently on either side. Comb hair flat and then to the side, seeing how you like each look. Again, as you do so, keep track of how each makes you look at what they do for your face. Some will make your face look long and lean, some may make it look wider, and so on.

Beyond this, of course, make sure you don’t spend too much time worrying about the shape of your face. The most important part of being beautiful is that you’re beautiful within. If you are disagreeable and angry, it doesn’t matter how pretty you are. Keeping alert in interested in other people is going to make you attractive to others, too.

Of course, the right style and temporary color can make you look and feel more like “yourself,” and may even make you feel more beautiful. The three experiments as listed above should give you a better idea of what types of hairstyles may look good on you.

The Cost of Laser Hair Removal

August 8, 2009 · Filed Under Health Related Article · Comment

If you have been considering laser hair removal treatments but the cost is putting you off, maybe it’s time to re-consider.  The truth is that laser hair removal treatments are far more reasonable than most people have been led to believe. Due to the hi-tech aspects of these laser treatments, many people just assume that the cost of these permanent hair removal treatments is beyond their means.  But a little investigation will show challenge this belief as a greater number of people pay a visit to their local laser hair removal clinic to rid themselves of their unwanted hair.

The Cost of Laser Hair Removal

It’s true that the cost of laser hair removal varies somewhat dependent upon your location and the actual person conducting the treatments. Permanent hair removal may necessitate a number of laser sessions. Results reported by men and women who have contracted for laser treatments have been very positive, with some people experiencing around 60%-80% hair removal success after a maximum of only three treatments.

Laser Hair Removal Clinics

As a general rule of thumb, you can expect to pay at least one thousand dollars for treatments of smaller areas, but cost will also depend on your personal hair growth characteristics. Prices at laser hair removal clinics are generally based on three factors; the type of laser, size of treatment area, and quantity of procedures. Larger areas, such as the back, are on average more expensive to treat than smaller areas like the bikini region. But don’t just accept the first price you get - shop around at a few different certified clinics before deciding.

Although laser treatments are not inexpensive, the benefits far outweigh the cost in that laser sessions are quick, mostly painless, and have less side effects (redness and in-grown hairs) than other hair removal techniques, such as shaving or waxing. However, an advantage that you can’t put a price tag on is the increased confidence and self esteem that you will experience from a permanent hair removal treatment.  It’s quite possible that your unwanted hair may be the one thing holding you back from true self-confidence and happiness.

Funding Hair Removal Laser Treatments

A prudent way to save big dollars on your hair removal laser treatments is to find a clinic offering package deals.  They will often charge a discounted fee for a set amount of treatments, pulses, or time.  These laser hair removal clinics will generally require you to pay in advance for the treatments though, but the savings can be substantial.

But if funding your laser treatments is an issue for you, you might consider a clinic that has a financing program to assist with your laser treatment payments.  Though the interest may be higher than your bank, the convenience may be worth the added cost.  Another alternative is to get a small loan from your local bank or credit union.  The interest rate will generally be lower and the payment terms may be more flexible.

Of all your permanent hair removal choices, treatments by laser will ultimately save you time and money - consider the ongoing costs and hassle of waxing, shaving or using creams.  How quickly the time and costs can add up!
